How to Make CannaButter at Home!

Most cooks are used to adding butter into their recipes. I’ve had many ask for recipes that include CannaButter, but are unsure how to make it or use it. Here is an easy, well, sort of easy, recipe to make CannaButter for your usage at home.

Ingredients:

Cannabis (desired amount for potency)
Unsalted butter (you need a fat to absorb the cannabis)

Equipment Needed:

Baking sheet
Aluminum foil
Grinder
Saucepan
Strainer or cheesecloth
Container for storing butter

Directions:

Decarboxylation (Activating the Cannabis):

Preheat your oven to 245°F (120°C).
Grind your cannabis buds coarsely.
Spread the ground cannabis evenly on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
Bake for 30-40 minutes to decarboxylate (activate) the THC. This step makes the cannabis potent for infusing into butter.

Infusing the Butter:

Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan on low heat until fully liquid.
Add the decarboxylated cannabis to the melted butter. Stir well to combine.

Simmering:

Simmer the mixture on low heat for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. This allows the cannabinoids to infuse into the butter.

Straining:

Place a strainer or cheesecloth over a container or bowl.

Let the infused butter cool to room temperature.
