Our hidden figurers computer group ladies have the night off from NASA They decided to make some chili together. There may be some trouble brewing…
Dorothy Vaughn’s kitchen – after work…
Katherine (holding up the moonshine jar): Dorothy, did you label this batch?
Dorothy: Of course.
Mary: That’s new.
Dorothy: Unlike some (large eye-roll), I learn from my mistakes.
Katherine: Good. Last time, the warning label was missing.
Mary (stirring the pot): According to my calculations, this chili is exactly seventeen minutes away from greatness.
Katherine (holding Dorothy’s moonshine jar and examining the label): Dorothy, should this be classified as a beverage or a propulsion system?
Dorothy (chopping peppers): Depends on how much you drink.
Mary: We’re making chili, not launching a rocket.
Katherine: At NASA, those were often the same thing.
Dorothy: That’s because nobody ever had my chili.
Mary: Nobody was brave enough to sample your moonshine first.
Later: (no one knows how much later)
Dorothy (carefully chopping vegetables): You know, most people don’t inspect every ingredient before it goes into the pot.
Katherine: Most people aren’t trying to achieve perfection.
Mary: There she goes.
Dorothy: I knew it. The moment she picked up that jar, she started running calculations.
Katherine: Actually, I was estimating the probability of this evening ending with one of us singing.
Mary: And? Is that before or after the infusion?
Katherine: Based on historical data, extremely high after.
Dorothy: You’re extremely high… We all will be after dessert.
Dorothy: Was there a warning label?
Mary: “Sip carefully. You wrote it on the lid.”
Katherine: That wasn’t a warning. That was a challenge.
Dorothy: Ok, let’s EAT! Mary, bring the infusion to the table.
