$111 BILLION IS SITTING ON THE TABLE
A new Yale University report, highlighted by Marijuana Moment, estimates that federal cannabis legalization and nationwide state legalization could generate more than $111 billion in tax revenue over the next decade.
Read that again.
$111 billion.
That’s money that could support roads, schools, veterans programs, public services, and local communities. Instead, much of that economic activity continues to operate outside the regulated market.
Legal cannabis is already creating jobs, generating tax revenue, and supporting local economies in states that have embraced legalization. Yale researchers project those benefits could grow dramatically if federal barriers are removed and remaining states join the legal marketplace.
