WHAT ARE KIDS REALLY LEARNING ABOUT CANNABIS TODAY?

As a grandmother, I was curious. What are our Kids Really Learning About Cannabis?

The answer surprised me.

In New York, the conversation is shifting away from fear-based slogans and toward facts. Through its new Cannabis Honestly campaign, the Office of Cannabis Management is helping young people, parents, grandparents, teachers, and other trusted adults have informed conversations about cannabis.

The program was developed after listening to more than 450 New Yorkers, including hundreds of young people. What did they find?

Young people want honest answers.

Parents and grandparents want reliable information.

And many adults admit they aren’t always sure what to say.

The goal isn’t to encourage cannabis use. It’s to help families understand the facts, discuss risks, recognize misinformation, and make informed decisions.

One finding stood out to me: most young people said they would rather get information from a parent or trusted adult than from social media.
